Ongoing work to widen and improve Virginia Parkway was substantially completed in December.

Through February, contractors will be completing the remaining sidewalk construction, vegetation installation and minor median work. Work to place new sod grass in areas disturbed by construction will also continue. Intermittent outside lane closures are still expected in some locations through the end of March to ensure a safe work zone. Director of Engineering Gary Graham said the project has faced a series of utility delays, which has pushed back the original completion date.

Once finished, Virginia Parkway will be widened from a four- to a six-lane roadway between Ridge Road and US 75.
