This facility will be the first kitchen in Collin County to serve freshly prepared meals to anyone experiencing food insecurity, according to the kitchen.
The approximately 4,500-square-foot building will share the property with the Holy Family School preschool in McKinney.
The shell of the building is expected to be complete by March 2020, said Alison Luke with Community Garden Kitchen. The rate at which funding is acquired will determine when it opens, Luke said, because funds are currently being raised to purchase equipment to build out the interior of the kitchen. The project is also supported in part by funds from the Episcopal Foundation of Dallas.
