Waketon Road will close to thru traffic between Long Prairie Road and Timber Way Drive beginning June 28 as part of intersection work at Long Prairie and Waketon roads, according to town officials.

The southbound left-turn lane on Long Prairie Road will also be closed. Detour signs will be posted. Drivers will be redirected to College Parkway and Morriss Road.

The closures are expected to last through Aug. 6, according to a notice from the town.

This project has crews widening and rebuilding Waketon Road to add right-turn lanes for west- and eastbound traffic. Town officials are also looking to add turn lanes for north- and southbound traffic as well.

The contractor has been working this month to finish the traffic signals at the intersection.
