Highland Village voters approved a $7.15 million bond in November 2017 for street and parks improvements. After an evaluation of 126 asphalt pavement streets in the city, staff determined that 23 of those streets were failing, and more than 25 streets were determined to be rapidly deteriorating.

Phase 1 of the street improvements project is now complete, meaning that construction is complete on Shasta, Ranier, Snowdon, Sheldon and Sugarloaf courts; on Rosedale Street and on Catesby Place. Construction designs have been completed for improvements to Oak Forest, Winding Creek and Dickerson drives; Baird and Donna circles; and Whittier Street. Those projects will go out for bid in late fall.

The 13 streets included in the final two phases of the improvements project are still in the planning stages.
