The splash pad at Doubletree Ranch Park is expected to reopen at 50% capacity June 12.

The reopening follows a state order allowing splash pads to open at half capacity, a release from Highland Village said.

The splash pad will be open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. every day but Tuesday.

Additional rules will be implemented at the park, and those who use the facility will be asked to self-regulate. New rules include avoiding the splash pad if feeling sick and maintaining 6-foot social distancing. The city also encouraged visitors to read the state's health protocols for waterparks before coming to the park.

The splash pad's 50% capacity is 218 people, while the synthetic turf can hold 272 people at half capacity.

City staff will periodically monitor the area, and the city's emergency management staff will determine if the splash pad needs to be shut down for having more people than its 50% capacity.

The splash pad can be closed at any time for non-compliance and if closed on any given day, will remain closed for the entire day, the release said.

“We make every effort to provide safe parks and facilities by way of cleaning and disinfecting, maintenance, inspections and make repairs as needed," Parks & Recreation Director Phil Lozano said in the release. "We have not changed these practices, although we are more keenly aware of the importance of what we do."

The daycare facilities at Doubletree will remain closed until there are no occupancy restrictions, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper.
