Lewisville City Council appointed two people to the Serve Lewisville board during its Aug. 1 meeting.

Ashleigh Feryan, Lewisville's Neighborhood Services Coordinator, and Council Member William Meridith will join the board for the new nonprofit organization.

The council approved plans to create the new nonprofit July 18. Serve Lewisville’s mission will be to bring multiple nonprofit organizations together at one facility, making it easier for the community to access social services under one roof. The organization aims to attract nonprofits, churches and civic organizations to the facility.

The need for a facility was determined by a recent feasibility study, which focused on five areas of concern: adult health care, mental health, rent and utility assistance, affordable child care and food. Serve Lewisville’s purpose will be to address those needs.

The board will be made up of five members: two from the city, Serve Denton CEO Pat Smith and two community members. Terms for board appointment are three years.

Serve Lewisville plans to hold a grand opening around spring 2023.
