To Chris Moreno and his family, the new Alma Mexicana Restaurante in Flower Mound is more than a place to eat.

“It represents Mexican soul,” Moreno said.

The restaurant, which opened Sept. 21, is owned by Moreno’s parents, Enrique and Alma Moreno. Both grew up immersed in Mexican cuisine. Enrique has been cooking in the kitchen with his father since he was 16. Alma has been making fresh tortillas since she was 8 years old.

Chris Moreno, the restaurant's manager, said the family takes pride in their authenticity.

“We’re not a chain restaurant,” he said. “Every single item is made with love.”

The restaurant offers fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, burritos and more, according to its website. Proteins include chicken, pork, seafood and steak. Vegetarian options are available.

Alma Mexicana Restaurante is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 2321 Cross Timbers Road, Ste. 405, Flower Mound. 469-464-3455. www.almamexicanarestaurant.com
