The change in the ordinance for the street comes at the recommendation of city staff, and it was approved by council 5-0 during its regular Feb. 7 meeting.
The staff recommendation comes after it received several complaints from Chase Oaks residents that parents parking on Giani Lane during student pickup and drop-off times impeded traffic flow on the street, according to the city report.
Gilani is a short entry street in the Chase Oaks neighborhood. Founders Academy parents regularly park on the short street while dropping off and picking up students, which creates congestion within the entrance to the neighborhood, according to the city report.
Staff then observed Gilani during student arrival and dismissal times over several days and noticed heavy parking occurs on both sides of Gilani during the student pickup and drop-off times.
The no-parking ordinance is effective immediately, according to the ordinance.
Any person who violates the ordinance will be subject to a fine of no more than $500 for each offense, according to the ordinance.
