Flower Mound Town Council unanimously approved a specific-use permit on July 19 for a new veterinary hospital that will be constructed on 4.76 acres.

Plaza Prairie Vet will be opening once construction is finished at 3901 Long Prairie Road north of Cross Timbers Road.

Southern Veterinary Partners owns and operates Main Street Veterinary Hospital at 4100 Kirkpatrick Land and Flower Mound Emergency Pet Clinic at 2311 Cross Timbers Road. Once the new hospital is built, those two businesses will be relocated and consolidated into the new facility, according to a representative for the project.

The specialty and emergency veterinary hospital will offer advanced medical care, specialized surgery and dental care, and specialty imaging services. It will also offer critical and emergency care, according to a July 19 presentation to council. The facility would be open 24/7. The hospital would also be family friendly so people can visit their pets in the hospital, according to a July 12 presentation to the Flower Mound Planning & Zoning Commission.
