The two buildings are part of a 7.425-acre tract adjacent to the Helen & Leonard Johns Community Park that town officials are considering using as the site for a cultural arts center with a performance theater, according to a town memo.
The $595,519 cost of the demolition is being funded by a state grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts, the memo stated.
The natatorium is located at 1778 Timber Creek Road. Town officials have said the former administration building on the property is still being evaluated for possible renovations.
Demolition work, which includes asbestos removal in the communications building, is expected to last several weeks, town officials said.
