A potential residential development in Flower Mound was tabled by Town Council members June 15.

The roughly 10-acre development between existing Regency Park 1 and Flower Mound Woods communities was brought to the council for a vote. The developer also requested a change from low density to medium density for the build, which would affect Flower Mound's master plan.

Each of the roughly 27 single-family lots would have a minimum square footage of 2,800 square feet. This minimum size was changed from 2,000 square feet following multiple meetings with residents in Regency Park 1, according to developer Rembert Custom Builders.

The development was met with mixed resident response during the public comment portion of the meeting.

Diane Bosworth, a resident of the Regency community, spoke on behalf of roughly 15 residents in her neighborhood. She said that a plan shared with residents the week before had been different than the one presented to the board, and that they had requested a tabling of the development. Other residents echoed her thoughts and had issue with the size of the lots being included in the community and the size of setbacks between houses.

Another resident commended Rembert Custom Builders for coming back to Regency Park 1 residents with compromises and new options for the neighboring development, and asked for the tabling of the issue.

The council moved to table the issue so that the developer and residents could come to an agreement on updated parameters and for the developer to bring updated sketches to council in July.
