There are a number of events and activities happening in Lewisville, Flower Mound and Highland Village this weekend and beyond for residents to enjoy.

Now through June 11

The Lewisville Animal Services is running an adoption special through June 11. Adoption fees have been waived for all dogs over 20 pounds and cats of any age. The regular adoption fee is normally $90.

The adoption fee includes microchip, all core vaccines, sterilization, heartworm and an optional 30 days of free pet insurance. To see some of the animals up for adoption and for the adoption process, visit www.lewisvillepets.com/adopt.

Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is located at 995 E. Valley Ridge, across from the north entrance to Railroad Park.


Virtual and in-person adoptions are available. The facility is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday.

June 4

The Town of Flower Mound will host the Chalk the Walk Art Contest from 9 a.m.-noon at Heritage Park.

Judging will begin at 12:30 p.m., and prizes will be given based on multiple age groups: 6 and under, 7-10, 11-13, 14-17, 18 and older, and a family division.


Participants will be assigned a concrete square to create their masterpiece. A set of chalk pastels will be provided for the first 75 participants to register, or residents can provide their own chalk. Participants can register online or at the Community Activity Center.

June 3-4

The Lewisville Public Library will hold its summer kickoff book sale starting with a presale June 3 and actual sale day June 4.

To shop the early presale people must pay an admission fee of $5 per person. The June 4 sale day is free. Items are priced $0.25 to $5. Cash, check and card are accepted. Proceeds benefit the Lewisville Public Library.
