The public is invited to celebrate Veterans Day with an hour-long ceremony at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Denton County Courthouse-On-The-Square.

The event will feature bagpipes as well as a Color Guard and the presentation of a wreath at the All War Memorial on the courthouse lawn.

This guest speaker will be U.S. Air Force Capt. Andi Tart, who served nine years as a pilot and aircraft commander, according to a news release. She later became a pilot for Delta Airlines. Tart is also vice regent of the Flower Mound Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and she serves with the Women Military Aviators and Women Veterans of America, the release stated.

Also scheduled to speak are U.S. Rep. Michael Burgess, Texas Woman’s University Chancellor Carine Feyten and University of North Texas President Neal Smatresk.

Representatives from the Denton County Veterans Service Office, the Denton Fire Department, Vietnam Veterans of America, the American Legion and ROTC are also scheduled to attend.


The Courthouse-On-The-Square is located at 110 W. Hickory St. in Denton.
