A major improvement project to remove odor and restore the aquatic health of three Flower Mound park ponds is nearly complete.

Due to recent wet weather, all three ponds have been refilled naturally.

Pond dredging at Cortadera, Wilkerson and Rheudasil parks is complete. The fountain and aeration system has been reinstalled at Cortadera, and the systems at Wilkerson and Rheudasil are expected to be back in service by April. Once the fountain and lights are reinstalled at Rheudasil, fish will be restocked as well.

In addition to dredging, the bank at Rheudasil's pond was stabilized to prevent the shoreline from eroding. To achieve this, crews installed slope revetment material and sod around the entire pond as well as a retaining wall at the northern end of the pond where the bank was the steepest. This combat erosion and help increase accessibility for residents who use the shores of the pond for fishing or other activities.
