Sheila Taylor, Katherine Sells and Jenny Proznik won seats on the Lewisville ISD board of trustees in the May 7 election.

Taylor won the race for Place 3 with 48.18% of the vote. Sells won re-election to her Place 4 seat with 57.18% of the vote. Proznik, also an incumbent, won re-election with 52.58% of the vote. Each will serve a three-year term.

Taylor faced Pam Johnson and Samuel Griffith for the board’s Place 3 seat. The position was held by Angie Cox, who did not run for re-election.

Taylor is a certified public accountant and has lived within the district for 19 years. Johnson is a paralegal and has lived within the district for 18 years. Griffith is an IT consultant and lived within the district for five years.

“I am feeling so excited and just ready to serve,” Taylor said after her May 7 win.

Taylor now plans to get up to speed on board policies and the inner workings of the board, she said. She plans to uphold her campaign promise of an increased board and district finance transparency.

Taylor said she will also serve as a voice for every child.

For Place 4, Sells is a community volunteer and has lived within the district for 32 years. She faced Staci L. Barker, an analyst who has lived within the district for two years.

In office, Sells' first priority is to increase mental health support for the district’s students, she said in a Community Impact Newspaper Q&A. Sells was not available for comment on May 7.

In the Place 5 seat, Proznik is a volunteer and has lived within the district for 22 years. She faced Chris Bowen, president of Bowen Pools who has lived within the district for 10 years.

“I am grateful and humbled by the support of the voters across LISD to trust me for another three years,”’ Proznik said on May 7.

Proznik is looking forward to serving alongside the board and the new Superintendent Lori Rapp while impacting students' lives for the better, she said.

The school board will canvass the election results on May 17. All three board members will also be sworn in at that meeting.
