In 2016, Innovate Flower Mound opened in Parker Square. The town-funded resource center was created to provide a place for entrepreneurs to connect, foster innovation and facilitate organic job growth. In 2015 the town entered into a three-year agreement with DayOne Consulting in which the town would lease the space for the center and DayOne would manage it. On Dec. 31 the town decided to terminate its lease for the center one year early. As part of the termination, the town will pay one lump sum of $185,900, which is the remaining rent due under the lease. Economic Development Director Andrea Roy said the center was not moving in the direction that the town wanted it to and decided it would be financially smart to sever ties. Roy said the town and DayOne had fundamental differences when it came to how the center should be run. Roy said it is possible that the center may continue, but it will be up to DayOne to make that decision.
