Los Caminos will be located at 880 International Parkway near the intersection of Lakeside Parkway and International.
The new restaurant will serve upscale Mexican cuisine, but “not so upscale where you feel like you have to dress up to come in,” according to Jeffrey Denman, one of the restaurant’s founders.
Denman added that the menu will mostly feature authentic coastal Mexican food with some Tex-Mex mixed in.
The building needed approval on a pair of exceptions to the town’s urban design plan to be more consistent with other buildings in the area—one for the use of more than the allowable 80% of stucco, and the other for a lower roof pitch than is required.
The site plans were initially approved in August by the Flower Mound Planning and Zoning Commission but needed final approval from Town Council.
There is no set timetable for the construction of Los Caminos, but the restaurant is aiming to be open before Cinco de Mayo next year.
“I feel like you have really valued Flower Mound and what Flower Mound can do for your venture,” Flower Mound Mayor Pro Tem Sandeep Sharma said. “It’s a great concept, and I’m confident it’s going to do very well.”
