Developer Duke Realty joined Flower Mound and PPG Industries Inc. officials to break ground today on a new PPG distribution center at 1001 Lakeside Parkway, Flower Mound.

The nearly 450,000-square-foot facility will be the largest distribution center for architectural paints and coatings in PPG's U.S. and Canada network.

The new facility will allow PPG to grow its presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and add to the company’s recent investment to open 14 additional stores in the area, said Dave Cole, PPG vice president of architectural coatings. He added that the Flower Mound facility will also strengthen its distribution model and position PPG to provide customers with more efficient service throughout the Southwest U.S. region.

"This site was well prepared for this size of a facility," Cole said. "I think the town of Flower Mound is perfect for us. It's centrally located and makes it easy for us to service the entire southwest with the highways. It was really a  perfect location."

PPG is relocating existing operations and inventory into the new Flower Mound facility, which involves job transfers to the new site. PPG’s architectural coatings business currently employs nearly 900 people in the state of Texas.

Cole said the project is expected to be completed in March or April 2019.

The PPG Paints brand and its national store network is focused on exceptional paint, expertise and supplies to painting contractors in all industry segments, according to the company.
