Denton County Public Health announced May 1 that a woman in her 60s who was a resident of the Denton Rehabilitation Center has died due to COVID-19, bringing the county’s total number of coronavirus-related deaths to 22.

“As we report the loss of a twenty-second life to COVID-19 in Denton County today, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers,” Denton County Judge Andy Eads said in a statement. “We know that each life lost to COVID-19 is one too many.”

Officials also announced an additional 21 cases of coronavirus, making the county’s total number of confirmed cases 786.

So far, 389 residents who were diagnosed with the virus have since recovered, and 375 cases remain active, according to officials.

Thirty-five Flower Mound residents, 10 Highland Village residents and 69 Lewisville residents have tested positive for coronavirus.
