The city of Lewisville’s Community Grants Division will hold a series of community meetings to gather input on neighborhood needs, social service priorities and affordable housing issues in Lewisville.

The city receives about $785,000 every year from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to a city news release. Every five years, city officials engage in community planning to determine the best ways to spend the money.

This year marks the start of the five-year planning process, according to the release. City officials anticipate receiving about $3.9 million in Community Development Block Grant funding during the next five years. Using this planning process, the city will draft two plans: the Consolidated Plan and the Assessment of Fair Housing Plan.

The community meetings and public hearings for input on the Consolidated Plan will be held:

  • May 12 at 7 p.m. at the Lewisville Grand Theater Recital Hall, 100 N. Charles St.;

  • May 16 at 10 a.m. at the Thrive Recreation Center, Dogwood Room 3, 1950 S. Valley Parkway;

  • May 16 at 7 p.m. during a City Council public hearing at Lewisville City Hall, 151 W. Church St.;

  • June 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church Assembly Hall, 900 Bellaire Ave.; and

  • July 18 at 7 p.m. during a City Council public hearing at Lewisville City Hall, 151 W. Church St.

The Consolidated Plan includes an assessment of the city’s affordable housing and community development needs as well as market conditions, according to the release. The information will be used to make investment decisions.

Lewisville residents can take the Community Needs Assessment Survey. The results of the survey will help staff make informed decisions about future investments in housing, businesses and neighborhoods.
