Patrick Kelly trumped Tom Cottrell in the race for Lewisville City Council Place 6 in the May 7 election.

Kelly won with 72.85% of the vote while Cottrell received 27.15%. Kelly will serve for a three-year term.

“It's an honor,” Kelly said on his May 7 victory.

Place 6 was added to the Lewisville City Council after the annexation of Castle Hills in November. The seat requires the candidate to live in the Castle Hills area, but the council member is elected by voters from the whole city.

Kelly said he is looking forward to being a part of the council, which is “a strong council.” The next few weeks will be learning about the council, he said.

During his time on council, Kelly plans to work on getting Lewisville residents to participate in the city and the local government, he said.

Kelly is a chief technology officer who has lived in Lewisville for 21 years. Cottrell is a Realtor who has lived in Lewisville for three years.

The Town Council will canvass the election results on May 16.
