The Lewisville City Council approved an agreement with HDR Engineering, Inc. for the Prairie Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Aeration Basin Expansion project.

The agreement was approved for the amount of $5,386,949, according to the April 18 city council agenda item.

This project is driven by the increase in population leading to increased discharge flows at the wastewater plant, according to the agenda. HDR completed the Prairie Creek Wastewater Plant Master Plan in October 2020, according to the agenda item. A site layout and process schematic was developed for anticipated build-out flows along with a capital improvements plan to address phasing improvements and sequencing for each plant project.

Based upon the project sequencing that HDR developed in the Master Plan Study, city staff has elected to continue utilizing their services for the project, according to the agenda item. The $5,386,949 includes the design, bidding, construction phase services and special services for the improvements needed to expand the treatment capacity of the wastewater plant.

Completion of detailed design is estimated to take 18 months, with construction estimated to take 22 months. Funding is available in the Wastewater Treatment Plant Capacity Improvements Capital Project Fund, according to the city.
