Flower Mound Town Council unanimously approved an amendment to its master plan to accommodate industrial usage on a property located north of International Parkway and east of Silveron Boulevard.

The council’s approval at its Jan. 18 meeting allows Duke Realty, the applicant, to develop two buildings with office and warehouse spaces on 66.9 acres. The project also includes a 6.6-acre natural buffer for green space and 12.4 acres of park space. In addition, the council approved a tree-removal permit to remove 48 specimen trees on the property for the proposed development.

Duke Realty’s original proposal was rejected in a 4-1 vote Oct. 6 on the basis of inconsistencies with the master plan. However, after Duke Realty provided a revised proposal, council members all voted to amend the master plan and the zoning within Lakeside Business District.

“My thoughts are pretty much the same as when we saw it the last time. I love the plan,” said Mayor Pro Tem Ben Bumgarner, who originally supported the proposal. "I love the fact that it's gonna be not just development to the town, but it's also gonna be an amenity to the town, that you're adding something to it that people can use, work and play here.”
