Trees along the road are becoming decorated throughout Flower Mound.

Flower Mound is participating in its annual Sad Tree Along the Road, or STAR, program for its 11th year, according to a town news release. The program allows residents to decorate a tree along a public road to spread holiday cheer.

Residents can choose any tree in a safe location, and they should be cautious when crossing streets, according to the release.

If a tree is on private property, owner permission is required to decorate. Decorations that are not dangerous to wildlife should be used and attached securely to the tree, according to the release.

All decorations should be cleaned up by Jan. 3. Residents can share their decorated trees on social media by using the hashtag #HelpaSTAR.
