Crews are planning to spray for mosquitoes in the Sellmeyer Lane/Murray Park area of Highland Village after one mosquito trap tested positive for West Nile virus.

Spraying will be done in the morning hours of Sept. 11, 12 and 13 and be concentrated around creeks, drainage culverts and wet wooded areas, according to a news release from the city.

The city has posted a map online showing the areas where spraying will occur.

To help reduce the risks of contracting the mosquito-borne virus, the city advises residents to eliminate any standing water around their homes, dress in long sleeves and pants when outside in mosquito-infested areas, and use an insect repellent containing DEET when outdoors.
