The city of Highland Village will spray for mosquitoes in the Murray Park area on July 10-12 after one trap in the area tested positive for West Nile virus, according to a news release.

City crews will spray in the morning hours and will primarily spray around the creeks, drainage culverts and wooded, wet areas, the release said.

Residents are asked to make sure there is no standing water around their properties. Places to check and drain include French drains, plant trays and pet water bowls.

In addition, the city recommends that residents protect themselves by dressing in pants and long sleeves when outside in mosquito-infested areas and apply insect repellent that contains DEET.
