Denton County's population is estimated to have grown by more than 200,000 people since 2010, according to a North Central Texas Council of Governments report that includes 2019 population estimates for North Texas cities.

Compared with past U.S. Census Bureau data, NCTCOG's 2019 estimates show the populations of Lewisville, Flower Mound and Highland Village have remained relatively stable in recent years.

On a broader level, the report shows the populations in Denton, Collin, Dallas and Tarrant counties each increased by more than 25,000 people last year and accounted for 83% of growth in the region.

Brian Lister, a senior research data analyst at NCTCOG, said the North Texas population growth continues to trend northward.
