This week marks the last week of Highland Village Fire Chief Brad Goudie's tenure with the city as he has accepted the position of director of emergency services with the city of Seabrook, Texas.

Goudie has worked for Highland Village for more than three years beginning in February 2015 as assistant fire chief. He was promoted to fire chief in July 2016. In September, the city announced his resignation, which is effective Oct. 2.

“Chief Goudie’s leadership set the standard for improving the EMS and fire service we provide our residents,” City Manager Michael Leavitt said in a news release. “Chief Goudie will be missed in Highland Village, and we wish him well in his new adventure in Seabrook.”

During his time in Highland Village, Goudie helped establish the Heart Safe Community program. The Heart Safe Community program is designed to provide citizens education programs on healthy lifestyles, cardiopulmonary resuscitation/automated external defibrillators education, promotion of physical fitness and healthy choices and early access through 911 and AED’s.

As part of the first responder team approach to increase the opportunity to save a resident's life, Goudie played a role in the Emergency Care Attendant training of Highland Village police officers, according to the news release. The ECA program enhances EMT paramedic services.
