At Tuesday's Highland Village City Council meeting, council members were expected to consider a resolution that would allow the city manager to execute an agreement with Community Waste Disposal for solid waste, recycling and household hazardous waste collection services. However, the item was tabled to the next meeting, which is April 24.

The city's current solid waste collections contract expires Aug. 31, 2018.

The proposed monthly fee is $16.24 and $14.65 for seniors.

The proposed agreement will be for an initial term of five years and require CWD to provide the following solid waste, recycling and household hazardous waste collection services:

•Continuation of 10 bags per week of garbage collected once per week

•Increase the recycling cart size to 95 gallons

•Continues the collection of compost materials on the same Monday collection schedule

•Provides for the collection of large brush and bulky items twice monthly without the need for the resident to call in; volume of each collection will be 2 cubic yards (6"x3'x3", or roughly the size of a refrigerator)

•Provides for resident-delivered materials at the firm’s facility

•Provides a solution for above-the-limit brush and bulky collections that can be assessed for a reasonable fee

•Continues the provision of household hazardous waste at the curb
