At the Feb. 5 Lewisville City Council meeting, members approved revisions to the Lewisville City Code that will allow for and regulate valet parking in the Old Town Entertainment District.

The revisions spur from Jim Murray, the owner of J2 Steakhouse, which will open in March, who has requested that the city allow him to use city right of way to maneuver customer cars as they are taken to a nearby valet parking lot.

The ordinance also lays out associated fees and certain operational restrictions intended to mitigate impact on surrounding properties and protect customers. Some of the restrictions include the hours of operation, which are 5 p.m.-2 a.m., where vehicles can be parked; and the location of queuing spaces and stands. No on-street parking will be used for valet services.
