Highland Village residents will see several street improvement projects this year.
City staff evaluated the 126 asphalt pavement streets within the city, and 25 streets were identified as failing, said Scott Kriston, Highland Village director of public works. The project will be funded through a $3.6 million bond. The streets identified as needing asphalt reconstruction include Lakeland Drive, Meadow Brook Drive, Oak Street, Cedar Drive, Redwood Drive, Ferndale Drive, Merriman Drive, Medina Drive, Glenmere Drive, Camden Drive, Turpin Drive, La Mesa Drive, Bexar Drive, Sandero Drive, Victoria Drive, Inca Place, Malibu Drive, Cuero Place, Perro Place, Gayle Lane, Savanna Drive, Catlin Circle, Catlin Terrace, Ranney Drive and Moran Drive.
The streets will be grouped into several construction projects, Kriston said. The different construction phases are expected to begin in summer 2022.
The goal is to have the reconstruction of the 25 streets done by winter 2024, he said.
