Lewisville's Western Days will be held Sept. 28-29.

This weekend Lewisville's Western Days festival will take place. The festival, which takes place in Old Town Lewisville, features food, live music and western-themed activities for the whole family. Here are five things to know about the festival:

  1. Randy Rogers Band and Gary Allan headline the festival
The Randy Rogers Band is the featured act on Friday night. The band performs on the Waste Management Main Stage at 10 p.m. The band experienced nationwide success and recognition with the release of its "Rollercoaster" album in 2004. Two songs from that album made the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in early 2005. The band has released seven albums, many receiving critical acclaim, spawning multiple Billboard hits. “One More Sad Song,” released in 2012, was the band’s first Top 40 hit. Three of their albums went to No. 1 on iTunes.

Saturday's headliner is Gary Allan, who will close out the festival at 10 p.m. on the Waste Management Main Stage. The California native has sold more than 7 million albums since breaking onto the scene back in 1996. He has been certified platinum on three consecutive albums and certified gold five times. Allan has five No. 1 hits on country radio, 14 Top 10 hits to his credit and has amassed over 270 million total streams.

  2. The festival features several food vendors
Western Days offers 14 food vendors in addition to the nine restaurants in Old Town who are inside the festival zone or right outside. Food vendors only accept coupons. Coupons are valued at $0.50 each and can be purchased at coupon booths located throughout the festival. Coupons are purchased with cash only. ATMs are onsite. No outside food, drinks, water bottles or coolers are allowed.

  3. Admission is free before 7 p.m. each day
Admission is free with a ticket between 5-7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday. However, beginning at 7 p.m. both nights, free tickets are no longer redeemable, and a $10 admission fee applies to everyone except children ages 12 and younger, who are always free to enter.

  4. DCTA is offering free shuttles to the festival
Festival-goers are encouraged to use the free shuttle service to access the festival grounds. Shuttle hubs will be set up at Denton County Transportation Authority's Old Town Station, 617 E. Main St.; DCTA's Hebron Station, 952 Lakeside Circle; and the parking lot at the Lowe’s/Kohl’s shopping center at 1001 Valley Ridge Blvd. Shuttle times are 4 p.m.-12:30 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.-12:30 a.m. on Saturday. Shuttles run every 10-15 minutes. Although this is a pet-friendly event, pets and weapons are not be allowed on shuttle buses per bus company policy. Limited public parking will be available in various lots around Old Town.

  5. A cattle drive parade is happening rain or shine
At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, the cattle drive parade takes place at Main and Mill streets. Following the parade, festival goers can watch the Western Days Festival World Tamale Eating Championship Presented By Market Street which takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. on the Lewisville City Hall steps.
