It’s the second highest designation awarded by the Texas Department of State Health Services and indicates level of maternal care, according to a news release from Medical City Lewisville. The hospital is one of 45 facilities across the state with a Level III designation, according to DSHS’s website.
“We are proud that our excellent care is recognized with this Level III designation,” Medical City Lewisville CEO John Walker said in a statement. “Our comprehensive system of care, supported by expert physicians and skilled, compassionate colleagues is why Medical City Lewisville is the destination of choice for women’s care in Denton County.”
The designation came after the hospital underwent a review process conducted by a multidisciplinary team appointed by the state. The news comes more than a year after hospital officials announced it had added 24/7 in-house obstetricians to help improve its maternity program from Level II to Level III.
