Necessary zoning hurdles for new facilities at Coppell High School have been cleared.

Coppell City Council approved a detailed site plan for a new fine arts building, renovated tennis center and updated field areas during its May 14 meeting.

The overview

According to city documents, the new site plan includes:
  • A 46,265-square-foot fine arts center
  • A long-jump and pole-vault area south of the new fine arts center
  • A 4,600-square-foot addition to the tennis center
All of the projects were part of Coppell ISD’s 2023 bond package. A guaranteed maximum price contract worth $24.1 million for the tennis center and fine arts building was approved by the Coppell ISD board of trustees in March.

As Coppell High School has expanded and added new facilities, council has considered revisions to the planned development overlay, per city documents.

What’s next?

Construction for the projects is expected to last throughout the 2024-25 school year and be completed by August 2025.
