Progress continues to be made in the early stages of Fire Station No. 5 in Coppell.

Coppell City Council approved a construction management contract costing $306,000 with Gallagher Construction Services during the Sept. 26 meeting.

In a nutshell

According to a council memo, Gallagher staff will assist the city in selecting a construction manager at risk, value engineering, budgeting and reviewing the final design documents. The firm will also provide field inspections and visits, reporting, budget management, and oversight.

The proposed fire station is in its design stage as it progresses to the schematic design phase with PGAL Architects.

Per the memo, the construction of Fire Station No. 5 will increase safety in the community.

The context

The city hosted an educational meeting about the station in February. The city had previously solicited bids for architectural services in March, which were eventually awarded to PGAL Architects.
