Dallas Zoo program


As part of Cozby Library’s 50th anniversary celebration, staff members of the Dallas Zoo will provide an educational program featuring live animals.

Texas Gypsies

This live music performance incorporates elements of vintage swing jazz, western swing, Django Reinhardt-style gypsy jazz and rock 'n' roll with violin, horns, guitars, upright bass and drums.Buck full moon hike


Participants will join guides for a hike along the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area’s Cottonwood Trail while viewing the buck full moon. This event is for ages 5 and older. Registration is required.

Basic Jr. Fire Academy

Students will learn how to be ambassadors of fire safety by learning about the tools of prevention—smoke alarms and home escape plans. That knowledge will be put to the test in the onsite Safety House. Once fire safety skills are mastered, students will go to the Safety Town Fire Station, visit with a firefighter, learn about firefighting equipment and complete a firefighter agility course. This program is for children in grades 2-4. Registration is required.August

River clean-up


Volunteers will help clean the Elm Fork of the Trinity River shoreline. Attendees are encouraged to bring work gloves and wear sensible shoes.

CPR-AED class


This non-certification CPR-automated external defibrillator course is instructor-led, and teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency medical situation until emergency medical services arrive. Skills covered include first aid, choking relief and what to do for in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. There is no minimum age requirement for this class. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required.

Perseid meteor shower viewing party

Attendees will view the 2024 Perseid meteor shower on the field at the Cicada/Cottonwood Pavilion where light pollution is minimal. The annual event produces up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak and is famous for producing a large number of bright meteors. This viewing party is for ages 5 and older. Registration is required.
