What you need to know
Families interested in enrolling their children in the program are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming informational meetings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25 or March 4 at Wilson Elementary.
These sessions will provide insights into the school’s curriculum, philosophy and application process, according to a district news release.
The details
The International Baccalaureate program is a specialized learning model that seeks to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young students, according to the district website. The program emphasizes developing traits that shape global citizens. Students will be exposed to real-world topics, develop essential skills like thinking, communication and self-management, and be encouraged to be curious.
The program also has a Spanish enrichment component. Students are exposed to basic vocabulary, phrases, and grammar in Spanish while continuing their main academic subjects in English. The focus is on building listening, speaking and basic reading skills in Spanish through interactive activities and games.
