Coppell ISD has opened a survey seeking community feedback and input on the 2024-25 and 2025-26 budgets.

As budget discussions continue, the district is seeking community feedback and families have until Feb. 12 to complete the budget survey, according to the district website.

The details

The district is facing an $8.7 million budget shortfall for fiscal year 2024-25 that is projected to surge in subsequent years. This has prompted discussions on calling tax rate elections and possible school closures after the board and administration exercised those measures last year.

Survey participants will be asked for input on which programs have the greatest impact on their child, what should be preserved during budget cuts, how budget constraints have affected the classroom and more.

If participants need to translate the survey into a different language, follow these steps:
  • Open the survey link in Google Chrome.
  • Right-click anywhere on the page and select "Translate to Your Preferred Language"
  • If the desired language is not displayed, click on the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser and select "More Languages."
  • Choose the desired language, and the survey will be translated automatically.
Mobile users can follow these steps to access the survey:
  • Open the survey link in the Google Chrome app.
  • Tap the three dots in the bottom-right Apple iOS users or top-right for Android users corner of the screen.
  • Select "Translate" and choose the preferred language.
  • The page will refresh and display the survey in the selected language.
Before taking the survey, the district recommends participants watch a video from the superintendent found here.

What else?

To reduce budget shortfalls and provide future raises for teachers, CISD officials need to reduce expenses in the budget by $5 million each year, as previously reported by Community Impact. Officials will filter survey results into budget discussions at future meetings which will help inform the decisions that the board and administration will make.

"These budget challenges require us to make tough decisions about how we allocate our resources," Superintendent Brad Hunt said. "We are asking you, our stakeholder, parents, staff, students and community members to share their input as we examine ways to reduce expenditures as while still meeting the needs of our students and staff."
