When schools close due to weather, the missed days may need to be made up by using bad weather days, which are days students would otherwise be off from school.
The details
School districts are required to operate on a set number of instructional minutes each school year. Currently, the CISD 2024-25 academic calendar has enough built in instructional minutes to cover the missed time in the remainder of the year, according to a district news release. Officials do not anticipate needing to use designated inclement weather makeup days.
For now, the scheduled bad weather days Feb. 17 and April 21 will remain school holidays for staff and students. These dates remain available should the district need to use them in the future due to possible weather closings. The district has several platforms to keep families informed during inclement weather.
