A new career and technology education course will be available to Lewisville ISD students.

The district’s board of trustees approved a new course for high school students Jan. 9. The Introduction to Film Interpretation of Weldments course will be added to the district’s welding programs.

It will be combined with Introduction to Welding and will replace Welding I to give students the opportunity to complete the program, according to the agenda item.

The state-approved course “enables students to master knowledge, skills and competencies not included in the essential knowledge and skills of the required curriculum,” according to the agenda item.

The course will be offered to students beginning in the 2023-24 school year.
