The gist
The series' latest season was released in June and featured 10 cake artists competing for $75,000, according to Netflix.
The contestants must create cakes that replicate objects, such as handbags, shoes and other common objects, in an effort to trick the judges.
“[The show] is based on realism and how realistic you can get the cake to be,” Rowe said.
Rowe earned an additional $15,000 from her winnings over the course of the season for a total of $90,000.
The backstory
Rowe has been baking cakes for 17 years. Her cake artistry has been featured on several Food Network television shows, such as “Cake Wars” and “Dallas Cakes.”
“An [‘Is It Cake?’] producer reached out to me and saw my work and said, ‘Hey, you know, we think you'd be a really good fit,’” she said.
While Rowe is a game show veteran, she said the experience on “Is It Cake?” was different. Some of her most challenging creations were a softball glove and a canteen.
“[The show was] more challenging, way more stressful, but way more satisfying,” she said.
What’s next?
Rowe said she would love to be a judge on a show someday.
In the meantime, Rowe said she has been busy running The London Baker’s two Lewisville locations.
“We have a lot more foot traffic; a lot more people finding out about us, which is great,” she said.
