Coral Reef Coffee Company closed their doors in Lewisville Jan. 25 and opened a truck to continue serving their coffee on wheels.

What they offer

The coffee truck serves coffee, tea and merch such as mugs, water bottles and sweatshirts. Their menu is largely the same as their original menu and all syrups are made in-house thanks to a new partnership with a local ghost kitchen, said owner Landon Forgette.

In addition, they now serve a variety of acai bowls of fully customizable bases and toppings, Forgette said. Breakfast tacos from Tacodeli are available from 7-11 a.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, he added.

Coral Reef Coffee Company is finalizing several locations for the truck to be regularly stationed in Lewisville, all within a quarter of a mile of their original home on Round Grove Road, Forgette said. Since many customers came from Denton, Forgette is looking for opportunities to serve that area once a week.

Customers can find their daily locations and announcements on social media.

The backstory

Due to an increase in rent, Coral Reef Coffee Company had to shut down their physical location at 310 E. Round Grove Road, Lewisville.

“I chose to seek out a new avenue that would help my business thrive and continue to serve the amazing community that had grown around us ever since we started our journey,” Forgette said.

With the help of Mayor TJ Gilmore, the city of Lewisville and the support of loyal customers, Forgette was able to build the new truck by hand, he added.

“During the shop’s final business day, I was deeply moved by the number of people who expressed how much Coral Reef has meant to them over the years, and it has inspired me to remain firmly rooted in this community,” Forgette said. “I am forever grateful and changed by each and every person I’ve met, and I truly hope and believe that we have provided a place for others to feel the same.”

Coral Reef Coffee Company opened their physical location March 11, 2020.

What’s next?

Coral Reef Coffee Company plans to partner with local artists and musicians for future events.

“My favorite part of working out of a brick-and-mortar coffee shop was hosting unique events to showcase local artists and musicians,” Forgette said. “So we’re already partnering with some of these incredible talents to begin offering similar programming in a brand-new way.”

Forgette hopes to someday operate several coffee trucks in other major cities with one permanently located at a food truck plaza in Lewisville.

Additionally, Coral Reef Coffee Company will be releasing an app for customers to place orders and find where their truck will be located.
