A Planet Fitness franchisee based in Austin, Excel Fitness, has acquired 11 Texas Family Fitness locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to a Dec. 17 news release.

Seven former Texas Family Fitness locations are receiving renovations and being converted to a Planet Fitness, which will include the addition of the gym chain’s Black Card Spa where Black Card members can access tanning, massage chairs and more. Renovations will also include enhanced floor layouts and exercise equipment, per the news release.

Renovated locations include:
  • Coppell, 120 S. Denton Tap Road, Ste. 302
  • East Frisco, 11501 Custer Road, Ste. 104
  • West Frisco/Little Elm, 1642 FM 423, Frisco
  • West Plano, 6205 Coit Road, Ste. 205
  • North Dallas, 7622 Campbell Road, Dallas
  • Prosper, 12235 University Drive, Frisco
  • South Denton, 1447 South Loop 288

Locations slated to close effective Dec. 17 are the following:
  • East Plano, 910 W. Parker Road, Ste. 250
  • Garland, 1121 Northwest Highway
  • Lakewood, 6464 E. Mockingbird Lane, Ste. 130, Dallas
  • The Colony, 5000 Main St., Ste. 50
Members at closed locations will be transferred to the nearest Planet Fitness location, all of which are less than 5 miles away, according to the news release.
