Wing, a drone delivery service, is partnering with Walmart to launch a temporary program in Lewisville.

What you need to know

Lewisville City Council approved plans for the program Nov. 6. The Walmart Supercenter located at 801 West Main St. will serve as the launch site for drone deliveries, according to program details.

Drones will deliver items in 30 minutes or less within a 6-mile range. Residents will be able to order a range of products including groceries, household essentials and over-the-counter medicines.

The 12-month project is anticipated to launch late November and could become permanent if the trial is successful.

Lewisville will be the second location to offer the service. Wing launched a similar program in Frisco in September.

Residents will be able to check for eligibility through the Wing app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices.
