Highway construction could cause delays to Dallas-area motorists' commutes in the coming days.
The Texas Department of Transportation is planning to close the direct connector ramp from northbound Interstate 35E to eastbound Interstate 20 from Dec. 5-11. The work is part of an ongoing $7.2 million bridge deck rehabilitation project taking place at the I-35E and I-20 interchange that is expected to be completed by early next year.
Telling drivers to expect delays in the area, the transportation agency said northbound I-35 traffic can detour at Exit 417 onto the service road and stay to the right in order to access the eastbound I-20 service road.
TxDOT, which is responsible for maintaining around 80,000 miles of roads across the state, noted that all work will be done weather permitting.
