Half Price Books celebrated its 50th anniversary in July. The bookstore chain’s headquarters and flagship store is located at 5803 E. Northwest Hwy., Dallas. Half Price Books first opened July 27, 1972, when co-founders Ken Gjemre and Pat Anderson turned an old laundromat in Dallas into a neighborhood bookstore.
