The new 13,000-square-foot Recreation Outreach Center will support athletic programs of Zion Lutheran School and "boost Zion Lutheran Church’s outreach to the community," according to an email from Chuck Green, chair of Zion’s Realize the Vision campaign.
The new building is designed to “respect the historical sense of the original sanctuary building” and will feature a familiar roof form and matching materials, Green said. It will be separated from the existing campus to preserve mature elm and oak trees, forming a garden and open space that will connect the facility with the campus.
Green said the new garden is part of a larger site improvement design that provides additional parking, a new playground, and a covered drop-off and site entrance.
