The address will be broadcast on WBAP News/Talk 820 AM and 99.5 FM-HD2. Johnson’s previous addresses have been given in person inside a venue, such as Fair Park.

Catherine Cuellar, director of the city’s communications, outreach and marketing department, said via email Johnson “wanted to try something new to reach people a different way.” She said the address will be broadcast exclusively through WBAP, and the city has no plans to stream it through its own channels.

The mayor is required in the Dallas City Charter to give the annual address, which focuses on city accomplishments, finances and future plans.
