The city of Dallas is planning to close several offices Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holiday season, according to a Dec. 16 press release.

All Dallas public libraries will be closed from Dec. 24-26 and from Dec. 31-Jan. 2 for Christmas and New Year’s, respectively. Regular hours will be observed at the libraries from Dec. 27-31. For more information on the library closures, click here.

The city’s sanitation offices will be closed Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 in observance of the holidays. According to city officials, there will be no delayed service for collection operations, transfer stations and the McCommas Bluff Landfill operations during the closures.

Dallas Parks and Recreation Department administrative offices, recreation centers, programs and venues are set to be closed Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. City officials said normal hours of operation will resume Dec. 27 and once again Jan. 3.

In addition, Dallas Water Utilities administrative and customer services offices will be closed Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 for the holidays. For emergency water service requests, customers may call 311. Nonemergency requests can be submitted online or on the OurDallas mobile app.


Dallas Animal Services will close Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. and resume normal hoursDec. 27 at 11 a.m. Normal hours of operation will continue throughout New Year’s.
