After being held in Austin for the last 20 years, the Texas State Rowing Championships will be held at White Rock Lake in Dallas for the first time April 23-24.

Local rowing club White Rock Rowing is hosting the championship weekend at White Rock Boathouse, which is located at 2920 White Rock Road in Dallas.

Championship weekend will feature a new water course on White Rock Lake and more than 500 junior athletes from across the state, including dozens from Dallas high schools, according to a news release. There will be dedicated space on the White Rock Boathouse lawn for visitors to watch the races during the free public event.

The event will be split up over two days, with racing heats from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. April 23 and grand finals from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. April 24. A team trophy presentation is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. April 24.

In honor of the weekend event, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson proclaimed April 23 as Texas State Rowing Championship Day.

Parking at the boathouse is reserved for team vehicles, buses and event staff. Parking for spectators is available at any public lot around the lake as well as at The Lot, located at 7530 E. Grande Ave. in Dallas and along Tokalon Drive.
